And the countdown begins for yet another biggie. Two weeks ago, BESHARAM had a midweek release [Wednesday, 2 October] and now, BOSS is all set to have a midweek release [Wednesday, 16 October]. Like BESHARAM, BOSS too doesn't have a competitor to contend with. Will BOSS bring respite for an industry that's awaiting glorious results this festive season?
Between BESHARAM and BOSS, a few low cost films hit the screens, with WAR CHHOD NA YAAR, a war comedy, being the most prominent one. Its screen space and shows increased considerably after BESHARAM continued to slip with each passing day. WAR CHHOD NA YAAR could've really benefitted from no major [Hindi] competitor, but it didn't, since the word of mouth is plain ordinary. Besides, a Hindi film also faces tough competition from non-Hindi films and the release of prominent films in Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu languages, besides Hollywood imports [GRAVITY], hit the business of new Hindi releases in several states.
Does BOSS have the potential to hit the pot of gold and boss over the BO? A massive release in India and also in the international markets coupled with a 5-day weekend, besides a holiday [Wednesday, 16 October], should ensure an impressive weekend for the film. The promos of BOSS are emitting positive vibes and thanks to the soundtrack finding flavour, happy days could be back again. Fingers crossed!
