Lioness: Morgan Freeman joins Taylor Sheridan’s CIA drama series at Paramount+

Morgan Freeman has reportedly joined the cast of Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming drama series Lioness at Paramount+. Freeman will join an ensemble cast which includes Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldaña, Jill Wagner, Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Hannah Love Lanier, Stephanie Nur, and Jonah Wharton. According to Variety, Freeman will play Edwin Mullins, the U.S. Secretary of State.

Lioness is based on a real-life CIA program. As per the official logline, the series follows “Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within.”

 

Lioness is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. The executive producers include Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Saldaña, Nicole Kidman via her Blossom Films, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone and John Hillcoat.

 

Meanwhile, Freeman is one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood known for multiple acclaimed films including Invictus, Million Dollar Baby and The Shawshank Redemption among others. The Oscar winning actor will next be seen in feature films A Good Person, Paradise Highway and Muti.
