Sohum Shah and director Girish Kohli launched the trailer of their film Crazxy at a multiplex in Mumbai. Sohum Shah was in his element and gave a lot of headline worthy quotes.

Sohum Shah was asked about being an actor and a producer. He said, “The job of a producer is the toughest. Acting ka job toh mujhe ekdum mast lagta hai! If you know your job well, you can prepare for the role in 10-20 days. You shoot for 40 days. You are also at the forefront during the promotions.”

 

He added, “Meanwhile, the producer has a thankless job. Usko koi poochhta hi nahin hai. Nobody even interviews him. Logon ko lagta hai ki isko kuch pata hi nahin hoga. People still feel that a producer comes with a suitcase full of cash and his job is only to distribute money.”

 

Sohum Shah further stated, “There’s a lot of chatter on films not working at the box office. I feel that’s because we have removed producers from the ecosystem ever since the corporates have entered the scenario. If a director has given a hit film, he opens a production house. He then makes 5 films. And the producer is doing the job of a line producer. He neither has the thought process nor stake nor the power to make the film as per his wishes.”

 

Sohum Shah also said, “When we were young, we used to hear about Raj Kapoor saab. If he would not be happy with a song, he would reshoot it. We’d hear about producers selling off their bungalows. This happens even today down South. Producers risk there to make films.”

 

He explained, “It is said that ‘Vyapaar zokhim ka khel hai’. In filmmaking, there’s no joy without risk. You can make something passionately only when things are at stake. Everyone is playing safe. They cast a certain actor, make the film in a certain budget, so that they can make a table profit. This is happening as the producer is not getting the attention.”

 

Crazxy releases in cinemas on February 28.
