Shekhar Suman attended the launch of his talk show ‘Shekhar Tonite’ at a multiplex in Mumbai in the presence of his son and the creator of the show, Adhyayan Suman, and producer Dharmesh Sangani. Shekhar’s TV shows have been very memorable and he spoke about them and a lot more.
A journalist remarked that there’s an atmosphere of fear in today’s times and that people don’t raise their voices as fearlessly as before. Shekhar Suman admitted, “People are indeed scared. It’s important to have the courage to raise your voice. Until and unless you don’t raise your voice, democracy and our society won’t be empowered. So, it’s important to talk against the wrongdoings. People don’t do so as they are scared of consequences. But if everyone starts thinking that way, toh fir kranti kaise aayegi? If you want to bring change, you must have the courage to speak.”
Exactly two years ago, in May 2024, Shekhar Suman had joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). On this, he confessed, “I was a politician for just 24 hours. I realized my mistake and I quit immediately (laughs)! Also, I wanted to do this show. I can’t do it while being aligned with a political party. There were some reasons and compulsions because of which a person takes a certain step. But the way I am, from where I come and how my upbringing is, I can’t survive by being a part of any political party.”
Shekhar Suman assured that he’ll be neutral while voicing his opinion on ‘Shekhar Tonite’, “I’ll not take anybody’s side. Jo sahi hai, woh sahi hai aur jo galat hai, woh galat hai.”
He also added, “Times have changed and they continue to change, that too very quickly. We are living in a digital universe dominated by social media. Even AI has entered our lives. Bahut saari sahi cheezein bhi ho rahi hai aur galat cheezein bhi. Diverse kinds of content are being created. But I feel that certain shows have their legacy and truthfulness. My shows are in that zone and I hope that going forward, I can do so. People have appreciated me for my truthfulness and honesty and I hope they do so with my new venture as well.”
