Two absolutely distinct films arrive this Friday - Pati Patni Aur Woh Do and Aakhri Sawal. Former is a family comedy and latter is a historic drama. Both films have seen precedence where similar films have worked at the box office. Pati Patni Aur Woh, which was a remake of the namesake film, had started Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday and had almost collected Rs. 100 crores. On the other hand, there was this small budget The Tashkent Files led by Mithun Chakraborty, which was a success story with a lifetime of around Rs. 17 crores.
Now, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh are coming together for Pati Patni Aur Woh Do which belongs to the same world as its predecessor, though this time it’s more about comedy of errors than infidelity. Moreover, there is a jungle element too about which not much has been revealed. Mudassar Aziz returns as the director and the film should open in Rs. 4-5 crores range. That would be a fair start for the film, which would be relying on audience word of mouth.
On the other hand, Aakhri Sawal has Mithun Chakraborty’s son Namashi Chakraborty leading the show this time and he has heavyweight Sanjay Dutt as the key protagonist on whose name the film is being brought forward to the audience. The film goes back to the origin of RSS and how it had a role to play in and around various incidents that have taken place in last 75 odd years since independence. Made for niche audience, this one should start around Rs. 2 crores mark and has been seen with films belonging to similar genre and set up. Collections could well multiply if audiences take a fancy to it.
