Dabbawalas inspire Kaizad Gustad

By Bollywood Hungama -

Boom(ed) director Kaizad Gustad is experimenting new things for his film Mumbai Central. Just last week, he had a three-hour long meeting with none other than the dabbawalas of Mumbai. These dabbawalas are the transporters of lunch-boxes from home to office for a major chunk of Mumbai's working class. Gustad's film offers a slice of Mumbai's life and these dabbawalas form an important part of the film. So to add an authentic feel to his film, Gustad personally met these dabbawalas and discussed every aspect of their trade like the lunch box coding, their traditional caps, their transport procedure, et al. He has also invited them to the premiere of his film (whenever it happens) and promised that the money collected from the show will be donated to their association. Gustad confesses that the idea stuck him when Prince Charles, had an encounter with these dabbawalas on his visit to India last year. Set against the backdrop of railway commutation, Gustad's film ran into trouble earlier when the railway authorities put down his request to shoot on a train in peak hours. Also Gustad faced problems when actress Sandhya Mridul and producer Rakesh Mehra (Aks) stepped out of his project some time back.
