The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees that features the actor playing a grey shaded character opened to a thunderous response from the audience. Released on January 25, Raees directed by Rahul Dholakia enjoyed an extended five day weekend to rake in the collections.
In this special report, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Raees while comparing the same to previously released films. Despite the extended weekend, Raees that collected Rs. 93.24 cr, ranks as the eleventh highest opening weekend grosser of all time. While the top two slots are firmly occupied by Salman Khan films Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which collected Rs. 180.36 cr and 129.77 cr respectively the third slot is occupied by the SRK starrer Happy New Year that collected Rs. 108.86 cr, while Aamir Khan claims the fourth and fifth slots with Dhoom 3 and Dangal which collected Rs. 107.61 cr and Rs. 107.01 cr respectively.
