‘Khushii’ (Kinship for Humanitarian Social and Holistic Intervention in India), a Delhi based NGO, auctioned 133 works of art by artists in collaboration with prominent personalities from various walks of life including business tycoons, politicians and actors, to raise funds towards creating a better tomorrow and a safe future for the underprivileged, homeless youth and the elderly. The event was conducted by Christie's India at the Turf Club.

This professional auction saw an astounding collection of art works, fetching a total of around Rs.17 crores. The painting by Lata Mangeshkar and Jayasri Burman fetched a whopping Rs 42 lakhs. While the painting by the business tycoon, Kumar Mangalam Birla (done in collaboration with Anjolie Ela Menon Nirja) fetched as much as Rs 1.20 crores. Abhishek Bachchan’s painting with Aishwarya Rai (which he did along with artist-cousin Namrata) fetched Rs 9 lakhs, whereas Madhur Bhandarkar’s painting (which he did with Sudarshan Shetty) was auctioned off for Rs 20 lakhs. The auction was conducted by Hugh Edmeades and Ian McGinlay of Christie’s. Kim Sharma and Kapil Dev were amongst the other celebrities who graced the occasion with their presence.
