Will 'Jodhaa Akbar' make it?

So what’s the truth about JODHAA AKBAR? Is the much-awaited movie hitting the screens on 12th October, as announced? A lot has been written about its release date. In fact, a section of the industry is sure that UTV and Ashutosh Gowariker may’ve announced the date, but they wouldn’t make it in October, adding that the actual date is January 2008 [the same week as UTV’s RANG DE BASANTI].
That also explains why a number of films have set their sights on 12th October, which includes BHOOL BHULAIYAA, LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG, HALLA BOL and HELLO. While a few producers are confident that whether or not JODHAA AKBAR makes it, they’ll still release their film, there’re few who’re more practical. They are in no mood to clash with the mighty opposition.
Meanwhile, Ram Mirchandani of UTV confirms that JODHAA AKBAR will indeed make it on the scheduled date. “Why should we postpone the film to January?” he asks. Tell him that the shooting is incomplete [according to rumor mills] and the post-production, music launch and promotion will at least take two months and he replies pronto, “We’re very much on schedule. Yes, we’re aware of the talk going around in the industry, but we’re sticking to 12th October. There’s no postponement and that’s final.”
