Chala Murari Murder Karne! Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, August 7, 2007 - 15:44 IST

Some years back Vikram Bhatt was all set to adapt Paresh Rawal's Gujarati drama Maharathi into a Bollywood film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan. However after the initial hoopla the film got shelved.

Now Shree Ashtavinayak Cine vision Ltd is all set to make a film on the Gujarati play Maharathi titled Chala Murari Murder Karne! The film will be directed by Shivam Nair who earlier directed the Soha Ali Khan – Abhay Deol starrer Ahista Ahista. The cast includes Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani and Om Puri along with Neha Dhupia. Another female lead is yet to be finalised.

The film is about a murder mystery that revolves around a wife's attempt to bump off her husband by hiring a hit man. After the mission, the killer does not bring relief but grief to the wife by his cunning antics!!

Chala Murari Murder Karne is slated to roll in September and Uttam Gada who has penned the play will do the screenplay and dialogues for the film. Incidentally one would remember that Naseeruddin Shah had made his directorial debut with Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota which was again adapted from a Gujarati play written by Uttam Gada. And Uttam was not really happy with Naseer’s interpretation of his play when the film released. Wonder what he has to say this time as this film has Naseeruddin in the role of an actor.
