'Fear' to release online, not theatres

Ramesh Sippy’s FEAR, directed by Vikram Bhatt, was expected to release worldwide on 13th July. UTV, the distributors of the film, has decided to release the film online. Yes, you’ve read it right. The film will be released on Internet, not in theatres. Also, the release is slated for August.
“We wanted to try something innovative. Earlier too, we had premiered our film HATTRICK online along with theatrical release. But for FEAR, we’re having an online release only,” Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV confirms.
Rohan Sippy, son of Ramesh Sippy, is equally excited at the idea of releasing the film online. “UTV has invested in the film and if they feel releasing the film online is a great idea, we’ve no problems whatsoever. We’re with them completely,” Rohan tells me.
Rohan continues in the same breath, “It’s an innovative idea. With technology, you can reach out to people who don’t have an access to cinema halls. UTV is talking to multiple websites to premiere the film, so that it reaches out to as many viewers as possible.”
