After a stupendous hit with Akshay Kumar in Namaste London Katrina is all set to be seen with another Punjab da puttar in Apne.

"And you know what? Bobby Deol during Apne was as much fun as Akshay," laughs the fair maiden who will also be seen in David Dhawan's Partner in July, though not with Salman Khan. It's Govinda who partners Katrina in David's goofy comedy.

It's been five years in the industry for Katrina. "I'm happy with what I'm doing. Namaste London changed the direction of my career. It was a huge step forward. After doing this woman-oriented film there was a wider acceptance for me. Not that acceptance was hard. I feel if you do a decent job, you get recognition. I've been getting my dues from the start."

Katrina attributes the success of Namaste London to the characterization and good dialogues. "And we were working with a bound script. That was what worked. Not the fact that I played a Londoner. I played one in Sarkar too. But just because I grew up in London it isn't easier for me to play a Londoner."

In her two next releases she doesn't have to shoulder all the responsibility. "Every film I do doesn't have to revolve around me. Apne was the first film I signed after my first film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. And no way does Apne revolve me. That's fine. Every film doesn't have to be about me."

"Every film I do doesn't have to revolve around me.”
The one co-star Katrina is especially fond of is Akshay. "And with a reason. Not just because he was in Namaste London. When I started my first film which was Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, it was a Sohail Khan production, so familiar ground for me. But Humko Deewana Kar Gaye was my first outside film. It was a totally new environment for me. And Akshay was totally supportive. He made me feel confident and capable. Now I've a third film Welcome coming up with him. I've learnt a lot from him. Whatever little I know about acting I've learnt from him. Also he's tall. So am I. That counts. Some of the other heroes are a little short for me," she ends with a mischievous chortle.
