Yash Chopra and Shabana Azmi to be honoured at IIFA

IIFA awards which are to be held from the 7- 9 June, in Yorkshire are going to be a gala affair. Apart from some of the biggest stars performing, the 7th of June will also see the Leeds Metropolitan University confer honorary doctorate on Mr. Praful Patel, Minister of civil aviation, renowned director Yash Chopra and noted actress and social activist, Shabana Azmi.
On the occasion of India celebrating 60 years of its independence, Leeds wishes to commemorate India’s struggle of freedom by honouring prominent Indian personalities who have contributed to the emergence of India as a fast developing, economically strong, cinema-proud nation.
The IIFA awards will also see Indian film luminaries Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and filmmakers Deepa Mehta and Rituparno Ghosh inaugurate the IIFA Exhibition, to coincide with the IIFA weekend.
