The latest buzz is that Amitabh Bachchan has agreed to do a film with a Chennai based filmmaker Revathy Varma. The film will be based on patriotism but not deal with the independence era. When contacted, a surprised Revathy said, “We are in the very initial stages at the moment. I am very busy with my Tamil-Telugu movie but I had finished the script for this Hindi film also. I have an association with a Mumbai producer and we invited Mr. Bachchan also. He agreed to do the film but hasn’t officially signed the film yet.”
Talking about the story of the film, Revathy states, “The film is about the present situation of India and the importance of patriotism. When we talk about patriotism, it’s only about 1947 period. That time whatever India needed was provided by some great people and it was done. Now what we are doing is just talking about those great times and wasting our present in our internal and external fights.”
Revathy’s film will focus on today’s India and its needs. She continues, “India is much different today. We are going through a phase where we can progress a lot but unlike western countries, we are not thinking long term to strengthen our future generations. So, this is going to be a different kind of a film.”
This film is however not going to be her next project. Clarifies Revathy, “I have finished a Telugu movie and my next is going to be a Tamil-Telugu bi-lingual. Only after that will I be going ahead with this film.”
