Rohan Sippy – Nikhil Advani join hands Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Taran Adarsh, May 15, 2007 - 03:22 IST

Here’s a major scoop and as always, it’s on IndiaFM first.

Two of the biggest names in the business -- Rohan Sippy and Nikhil Advani -- have joined hands to produce their first movie together. To be directed by Nikhil Advani, the film will star Akshay Kumar in the lead.

Rohan doesn’t deny the development when I quiz him about it. “Yes, we’re working on one project currently. Right now, only Akshay Kumar has been finalized. He’s excited about the project. We plan to start the film by the year-end,” Rohan divulges. Rohan and Nikhil have been friends for quite some time, so their first collaboration together doesn’t come as a surprise.

Rohan and Nikhil are in the process of working out the remaining formalities. Will Ramesh Sippy’s R.S. Entertainment produce this film? “That needs to be discussed. Nikhil and Mukesh Talreja have joined hands to produce films together. Their production outfit will be involved in this film, so we need to work it out,” Rohan says.

While on Rohan Sippy, there’s talk that the Nana Patekar – Kunal Kapoor project, to be directed by Rohit Shetty [ZAMEEN, GOLMAAL], has been put on the backburner. “Everyone’s busy with multiple films, so we need to match the schedules accordingly. A clear picture will emerge next week,” Rohan admits.

Also, the project with Sujoy Ghosh, ALLADIN, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Ritesh Deshmukh, will not be produced by the Sippys anymore. “Sujoy is producing the film on his own. We are not associated with it,” Rohan reveals. What happened? “Sujoy had a certain budget in mind, while we felt that stretching a film beyond a particular budget wouldn’t be feasible, so we decided to part amicably. It’s not advisable to work if we don’t reach a common consensus on certain things. No point creating an unpleasant atmosphere later,” Rohan adds.
