Samir Karnik's next! Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Taran Adarsh, April 4, 2007 - 03:59 IST

More than two months ago, we did the news-break of Samir Karnik starting a multi-starrer called MERA BHARAT MAHAAN with a huge cast. Of late, there were rumors that Samir has decided to abandon the project and concentrate on a solo Salman Khan starrer.

“Completely untrue,” Samir sets the record straight, “I am going ahead with the multi-starrer.” So what’s the final cast then? “Sunny Deol, Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol, Sohail Khan, Vatsal Sheth and Mithun Chakraborty,” pat comes the reply. Samir plans to start filming from 15th June onwards.

Samir rubbishes the talk that the plot is inspired by THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES, which revolved around a medical student and his friend traveling across South America on motorcycle in the 1950s. “I guess, people are drawing parallels because two characters in my story travel on a motorcycle, but what if they were on a bicycle? What would the rumor mills spread then? It’s not MOTORCYCLE DIARIES, please,” he clarifies.

Meanwhile, Samir’s next release NANHE, starring Bobby Deol, will hit the screens on 11th May. Incidentally, the Abhay Deol starrer EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL might either make it on 11th or 18th May. Will the week witness the clash of the two Deols?
