Prakash Jha’s Apaharan starring Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Bipasha Basu has been invited to be screened under The Asian ‘Film Noir’ retrospective in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Int’l. Film Festival (Canary Islands, Spain).

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Int’l. Film Festival has become one of the main film events in Spain, it showcases new ‘art film’ trends, real independent productions, Asian cinema (auteur films and genre films), African, Latin American, Eastern Europe cinemas; experimental works in between fiction and non-fiction film.

The festival will be held during 16th – 24th March 2007. In the competitive and non – competitive sections, films from Malaysia, South Korea, USA, Germany, Spain, Thailand, Romania, Portugal, China, Morocco will be screened. There will be retrospectives on Hirokazu Kore-eda, Avi Mograbi, and The Asian ‘Film Noir’ retrospective.

The Asian ‘Film Noir’ retrospective selects movies representative of the different ways this genre develops in different countries and film cultures of Asia. Other films in the Asian ‘Film Noir’ retrospective are from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Hong-Kong. Apaharan is the only film from India. Apaharan released in December 2005.
