Studio 18 takes up distribution of Namastey London

Studio 18, the film division of the TV18 group is expanding its domain in Bollywood at a rapid pace. After distributing Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd and 1971 in last month, they have moved on to acquiring new films in Bollywood. The latest from them includes Vipul Shah’s Namastey London.
Sandeep Bhargava, the CEO of Studio 18 confirms, “We have taken up the distribution of Vipul Shah’s Namastey London for Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad territories in India. The original worldwide distribution of the film was with Eros International and Studio 18 has acquired the Delhi city from them”.
Ask him on what prompted him to acquire the Delhi territory and Bhargava replies, “Namastey London is a film about exchange of cultures between two countries – India and England. A major part of it is shot in Punjab and the film has a lot to offer to the North Indian audience. So it makes sense to acquire the Northern belt”.
Namastey London, one of the most awaited films of 2007 and reportedly a remake of the classic Purab Aur Paschim is directed by Vipul Shah and has Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor and Upen Patel in leading roles. It also has a British actor called Clive. The film has been extensively shot in London with British crew. For the first time Himesh Reshamiya and Javed Akhtar have come together for creating the music of Namastey London.
