Anand enters, Himesh exits!

With Himesh Reshammiya concentrating on his acting career with AAP KAA SURROOR, the producers are looking for alternatives. Firoz A. Nadiadwala, who is producing the multi-starrer WELCOME with Anees Bazmee in the director’s seat, had recorded two songs under Himesh’s baton. But the balance three songs of the film are now being recorded by Anand Raaj Anand.
“It’s true. I am composing the balance songs of WELCOME,” Anand Raaj Anand tells me, “In fact, I am recording a song for the film currently.” How did WELCOME fall in his lap? “Anees-ji [Bazmee] was talking to several people. He asked me to compose three tunes. Later, he sprang a surprise by telling me that I am the chosen one for the remaining tracks of the film,” Anand reveals.
Is it ethical to step into a project that had someone else as the music composer? “It’s happened with me too. Incidentally, it was Himesh who stepped into my shoes then. I had recorded three songs for BANDHAN and then Himesh was assigned the responsibility of recording the remaining two tracks of the film. I took it in my stride, didn’t I? He should be the last person to complain,” Anand defends his decision.
Anand strongly feels that WELCOME would prove to be a turning point in his career. “I’ve survived for ten years without the support of big banners. The qualitative tunes I composed took me so far. WELCOME is a great opportunity to consolidate my status and take me further. I was waiting all this while for a terrific film and WELCOME it is,” he says confidently.
