Apoorva Lakhia shoots commissioner A. A. Khan Click here to add this article to My Clips

Based on a true story of commissioner Aftaab Ahmed Khan in 1991, Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt are coming up with a star-studded thriller Shoot Out at Lokhandwala. Aftaab Ahmed Khan had shot Dawood Ibrahim's aides including Maya Dolas and Dilip Bua at Lokhandwala which had caused a huge controversy. It was also rumoured that Dawood himself had asked A. A. Khan to get rid of his aides, who had walked out of his team. A. A. Khan brushed off these rumours. Most believed that he initiated an anti-terrorism movement by ambushing armed underworld dons at a Lokhandwala apartment.

This aspect of the story is being captured by director Apoorva Lakhia. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek, along with Sanjay Dutt, who plays the role of A. A. Khan. But the main attraction of the film is Mr. A. A. Khan himself! A. A. Khan also features in the film, as Sanjay Dutt’s ex-boss, police commissioner Ramamurthy. He has almost finished shooting his part as an actor in the film.

Khan has been elated and honoured to be a part of this film. He said that he readily accepted the role, as the script incorporated most of his factual inputs. He went on to saying that his involvement proved useful to the crew because he was the best person to guide Dutt about the costumes, the postures, mannerisms and the conduct of a real-life cop.

It seems that we have yet another reason to be proud of ex-commissioner A. A. Khan!
