Kher and Kukunoor fly kites for a cause! Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, January 27, 2007 - 07:16 IST

With the overwhelming star response in the Mumbai Marathon, one can conclude that Bollywood celebrities seem to be doing something worthwhile for the betterment of the society. But they will not just stop at running – they will also fly kites if they should!

Anupam Kher, Nagesh Kukunoor, Ashok Pandit, and Sachin Pilgaonkar are among those who decided to support NGOs by being a part of the Genesis Film Project’s Kite Flying Festival. Inspired by the project, which threw light on 101 NGOs, Godrej, one of India's biggest business houses, decided to sponsor 3000 kites for women and children associated with NGOs in Mumbai. The celebrities readily agreed to participate, as the idea behind Godrej’s initiative was to spread joy to the underprivileged. If this wasn’t enough, the stars have also decided to judge the final round of the Genesis filmmaking contest which will take place next month.

Reportedly, Kher stepped up to be a part of the Genesis project as he believes “good ideas need good support”. Now that’s the way star-power must really be employed!
