2 of 2 people found this review helpful No sub-plots, no songs, no masala - the best part of the film is its tightly knit plot. Naseeruddin's performance as he calls himself in the film, "voice of the stupid common man" is brilliant. This two-hour-something film has been told in an amazingly precise and gripping manner...

2 of 2 people found this review helpful The film is blessed with fine performances with Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher topping the list as competent opponents. Jimmy Sheirgill and Aamir Bashir as fellow officers are equally adept and gracefully natural. Deepal Shaw as a news TV reporter is quite capable and her voice is dubbed with a typical accent characteristic of the profession...

4 of 4 people found this review helpful No amount of praise would be enough for the performance of one man above all others in this endeavour. Naseeruddin Shah continues to quietly be one of the country's finest actors and as the spine of A Wednesday he helps this movie take credit for telling a story as well as taking a stand.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful A WEDNESDAY is a thriller, it's an educational film and it's also an eye-opener. Director Neeraj Pandey has taken terrorism as the theme and has given it a whole new twist that is mind-boggling to say the least.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful The best thing about the film is that the director tells us everything that we know and understand and still manages to be so effective. The film is so slick and the acting is so natural that one doesn't question much of the action as it unfolds.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful That's first-time director Neeraj Pandey's A Wednesday, which could well be the story of any day in any metropolis. It has a walloping impact – and despite some sections which could be interpreted as Muslim bashing – is absolutely A-grade.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful 'A Wednesday,' is a story that happens over a couple of hours one Wednesday in the career of city commissioner of Police, Mumbai, Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher). On the eve of his retirement, Rathod looks back on his career as he shares this unusual story, a story that was never recorded.

A Wednesday begins with a man (Naseruddin Shah) who calls the commissioner of police Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher) and says that he has planted 6 bombs across Mumbai city that will go off at 6.30 that evening if his demands are not met. He wants the release of four criminals who have been imprisoned for terrorist activities.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful The screenplay is well crafted and till the first half is very fresh but it falters in the second half. Certain clichés come into play, it gets a little predictable, and towards the end it gets preachy. But, what saves the film is its engaging screenplay, deft direction & a fabulous starcast.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful 'A Wednesday' doesn't take time to get down to business. As a bespectacled Naseeruddin Shah is shown strolling across the city, traveling in a train before walking in to Colaba police station, police commissioner Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher) is in office, where film star Ajay Kapoor is lamenting about how bhais are targeting him with extortion calls only because he's in minority.

A Wednesday is a no-frills thriller- tightly scripted and directed by Neeraj Pandey for the most part- and makes for a fairly impressive first for the filmmaker.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful The film is about that one Wednesday whence the police are forced to play a cat and mouse game with a master-mind, both trying to outdo each other at their own game. But it is not that simple.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful A Wednesday is one of the best movies in recent times. Its a hard-hitting thriller, great execution of the script by the director and performances that make an impact on the viewer. The movie is just 1:30 hours in duration and the director even manages to squeeze in a couple of comic scenes too.
