In September, all eyes look to the Toronto International Film Festival as the meeting place for some of the world's most acclaimed creative and dynamic commercial forces. Bollywood too, made its presence felt and our stars were spotted at the Festival as well.
Shilpa Shetty presented Richard Gere with the prestigious ONE X ONE Difference Award, in recognition of his work fighting child poverty. But as she had said, there was no repeat of the kiss which caused uproar at an AIDS awareness rally in India earlier this year.
But the eruption came when Amitabh arrived. He signed autographs - and continued to do so until he went inside. Even inside the Gala hall, all people were waiting for was Amitabh. According to reports, this is Big B’s best performance till date, playing his first-ever English-language lead role.
"It's great to be blessed with the honour of giving an award to someone as great as Richard. He's been instrumental in the process of spreading the awareness of HIV in our country and he really deserves this award," Shilpa said
Rituparno Ghosh's The Last Lear was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 07. Each of the stars arrived one at a time at the theatre. First was Preity's limousine, to which many fans were crowded past barricades trying to get her to come over. She simply got out of the car, smiled to the crowd and then walked over to the press tent - and then headed inside.
Arjun came next, and much to the happiness of the girls there - he walked right over from the limousine, signed autographs, took pictures and even hugged a few of the girls - to which they started crying
