After a record-breaking opening day of Rs. 28.50 crore, Ajith Kumar's Valimai has witnessed a drop in collections on second day. According to our tracking, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 11.25 to 12.00 crore on its Day 2 in Tamil Nadu taking the two day total to Rs. 40 crore gross.

This isn't a worrisome sign as Tamil films tend to drop after historic start and it's about recording a positive trend in the days to somehow go past the Rs. 100 crore mark in the long run and emerge a successful film. The biz will pick up on Saturday, followed by another jump on Sunday with the aim of touching Rs. 65 crore over the opening weekend.
The trend from Monday will decide the fate of this Ajith Kumar film, and hence, till then it's going to be a wait and watch scenario. Though the drop seems to be big on paper, in reality it's yet among the Top 6 highest second day collections of All Time in Tamil Nadu. The ticket rates have come down on Friday as compared to the opening day, and so have the shows count with all single screen properties opting for the routine of 4 shows a day, as compared to 5 to 6 on the opening day. So the drop is not a shock per-se.
The on ground reports seem mixed and the collections are driven due to the insane stardom of just one man and that's Ajith Kumar. To put up a record non holiday figure in the middle of Covid is something that just a star like Ajith Kumar can do.
