There was keen excitement fort the Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3, thanks to the brand Tiger and the response to the film’s promotional material, especially the two trailers. The makers did take a risk by releasing the film on Diwali Laxmi Puja on November 12 as this day doesn’t normally attract as many movie goers as the other days during the Diwali period. However, the risk has turned out to be worth as Tiger 3 has become the highest Salman Khan opener ever by earning Rs. 44.50 crores yesterday.
The actor’s 2019 release Bharat is the second in the list of all-time highest openers given by him with Rs. 42.30 crores. This is followed by Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which had opened at a huge Rs. 40.35 crores back during Diwali 2015. The next two positions in the list are acquired by Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai with Rs. 36.54 crores and Rs. 34.10 crores respectively.
As Tiger 3 earned a mammoth number yesterday despite it being Laxmi Puja, the film is expected to score even higher today and go past the Rs. 50 or 55 crores mark.
Produced by Aditya Chopra for Yash Raj Films, Tiger 3 is the third film in the Tiger franchise and the fifth film in the production house’s Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi in pivotal roles.
