Marathi cinema is all set to welcome its first 100 Crore Club film. Raja Shivaji is on its way to emerge as the highest Marathi grosser ever and though this time around there is contribution coming from the Hindi version as well, the fact remains that in principle this is a regional language film.

There have been a few Marathi films in the past that have broken out, case in point being Sairat, Baipan Bhari Deva, Natsamrat and (Riteish Deshmukh’s own) Ved to name a few. However, Raja Shivaji has also made the quickest move ever with maximum collections in the first two weeks itself due to its action theme and also an ensemble of Bollywood starcast. That can be seen with Rs. 57.70 crores coming in the first week and then Rs. 27 crores more in the second week, hence resulting in an overall haul of Rs. 84.70 crores in two weeks flat.
The film has stayed over 2 crores mark on Thursday as well and while today the film should collect around Rs. 1.75 crores, expect very good jump tomorrow with more than Rs. 3 crores all set to come in. By the end of third week, the film would have come quite close to the Rs. 100 crores mark and in the fourth weekend it would enter the 100 Crore Club, hence turning out to be a landmark moment for Marathi cinema.
Hit.
