Records are tumbling left, right and center, and there is immense joy in the industry. As simple as that, those who love the world of films would always be glad when theatrical business goes berserk. For true movie lovers, it doesn't matter that films arrive from which industry. When the Kannada film KGF: Chapter 2 did all-time blockbuster business, film lovers rejoice. Before that, SS Rajamouli had scored big with his Telugu biggie Baahubali: The Conclusion, and everyone jumped with joy. Now Yash Raj Films is creating history with Bollywood's Pathaan.
The man who is leading from the front is Shah Rukh Khan and what a return to the big screen he is enjoying after 4 years. There were misses galore with Zero, Jab Harry Met Sejal, and Fan to name a few but all of that has been left behind with Pathaan, which has scored a century in 2 days flat. That has been made possible by a rollicking second day, which has made the world stand up and take notice. For the first time ever, a Hindi film has gone past not the Rs. 60 crores barrier but even the Rs. 70 crores mark as Pathaan has done that with style, what with as good as Rs. 70.50 crores coming in.
The numbers are mind-blowing by all means since even though Thugs of Hindostan and War had scored more than Rs. 50 crores each on their first day, the former had crashed immediately and the latter didn't surpass Rs. 50 crores again in its subsequent run (albeit it did well enough to enter the Rs. 300 Crore Club). In the case of Pathaan, the collections have been further accentuated with the Tuesday holiday adding to the Wednesday numbers by a huge volume and a conventional weekend yet to come. With Rs. 127.50 crores already in, expect history to be rewritten in days to come.
