The Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham starrer Pathaan was released on January 25 to a thunderous response from the audience. Directed by Siddharth Anand the Yash Raj Films production, which faced opposition from certain factions before its release, has proved to be unstoppable. After enjoying a wide spate of advance bookings, Pathaan that released across 5500 screens in the domestic market managed to draw in a staggering Rs. 57 crores on Day 1 (Hindi Rs. 55 cr + Tamil & Telugu Rs. 2 cr). Now, on its second day running the business of the film has seen a further increase in footfalls and collections.

Collecting a whopping Rs. 68 crores on its second day, Pathaan has emerged as the all-time highest single-day grosser. In fact, the business of the film has managed to overshadow the collections of previous releases like KGF – Chapter 2, which collected Rs. 53.95 crores, War which collected Rs. 53.35 cr, Thugs of Hindostan collected Rs. 52.25 cr, Sanju collected Rs. 46.71 cr, and even Baahubali: The Conclusion that collected Rs. 46.50 cr. This massive rate of collections is being attributed to the fact that Pathaan enjoyed the benefit of the Republic Day national holiday, which coupled with the hype for the film has established the Shah Rukh Khan starrer as the leader.
As of now, Pathaan still continues to enjoy the audiences’ favour and is expected to continue its march at the box office. Going by the current scenario, trade predictions state that the business of Pathaan will see further growth over its first Saturday and Sunday running. In fact, advance estimates state that Pathaan could even cross the Rs. 200 crores mark by the end of its five-day extended opening weekend.
