When the preview screenings started for Amitabh Bachchan and Nagraj Manjule’s Jhund, there was all around positive word of mouth that started spreading. It was akin to good old days pre-pandemic when high profile films used to have celebrity and media screenings and there was a fair deal of positivity that was spread on social media well in advance. This of course also helped translate into numbers for a few films.
Though that didn't really happen in case of Jhund, those associated with it would be hoping that it happens indeed soon enough. So far, the film has collected Rs. 1.50 crores on Friday, and now it would be all about critical acclaim helping bring in audience footfalls as well. The reviews too are largely positive and while no one has a negative word to say about it, it all ranges from above average too good to very good. Before pandemic, all these factors combined together helped a film grow by 50%-70% on Saturday and one waits to see if that happens here.
Amitabh Bachchan would be looking forward to things turning out to be well for Jhund which is his third release during the pandemic after Gulabo Sitabo [OTT release] and Chehre [fractured release due to occupancy rule and other restrictions]. Prior to these he had delivered a fantastic superhit in the form of Badla and one hopes to see him again in such powerful avatar.
