The much talked about and keenly anticipated film War finally hit screens today. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff along with Vaani Kapoor, War that is directed by Siddharth Anand promises to be an all-out action entertainer. With positive feedback from the critics and a massive advance booking rate War has started off its box office run on a thunderous note. In fact, early business estimates state that the film might in all likelihood, rake in approximately Rs. 48 cr. on Day 1 with both the multiplexes as well as the single screens contributing. The night shows remain crucial for the film however.
However, despite the wide release across 4000 screens in the domestic market, War did see business being hit in certain regions. In Gujarat with Navratri in full swing, the footfalls in theatres have not seen that much a jump. On a similar note, in few southern regions the business of War was affected with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy eating into its market share.
Though the business of War has faced a few hurdles in these territories, the business of the film pan India has seen immense growth. Thanks to advance booking that opened five days in before its release, the collections of War are set to see good figures. In fact, expectations are that the film will become Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s highest opening day grosser. However, given the current trend at the box office, it seems unlikely that the collections of War on Day 1 will surpass the previous released Yash Raj Films venture Thugs of Hindostan that currently holds the record for the highest opening day collections with a draw of Rs. 52.25 cr.
