Aditya Dhar's ascent is all the more remarkable when measured against the depth of the competition. Rohit Shetty, in second place with Rs. 1,925.21 crore has built his total across action comedies and franchise entertainers spanning nearly two decades of continuous releases. Third-placed Siddharth Anand, with Rs. 1,388.77 crore from eight films, directed Pathaan the film that redefined what a Bollywood release could achieve globally in the post-pandemic era. Rajkumar Hirani, fourth with Rs. 1,196.71 crore from six films, is widely regarded as one of the most consistent filmmakers in Hindi cinema's history. Aditya Dhar has overtaken all of them with a filmography that a mid-career studio executive might still describe as nascent.
The efficiency argument is, in many ways, the most compelling lens through which to appreciate what Dhar has built. His highest single-film collection stands at Rs. 895.96 crore earned by Dhurandhar in 2025 which on its own would rank among the top individual performances by any director on the chart. Rohit Shetty, by contrast, has never crossed Rs. 268.35 crore with a single film, meaning he has built his cumulative total through sheer volume rather than peak performance. The two approaches represent entirely different philosophies of filmmaking, and the fact that Dhar's high-peak, low-volume model has now overtaken the high-volume benchmark is a commentary on the changing economics of Indian cinema.
It is worth pausing on the company Aditya Dhar now keeps at the top of this chart. That Aditya Dhar's cumulative exceeds Rajamouli's by more than Rs. 1,044 crore is a figure that would have seemed fantastical even three years ago.
What the data ultimately reflects is the emergence of a filmmaker who has, in a single decade of directorial work, redefined the commercial ceiling for a Hindi film. Uri: The Surgical Strike established him as a name. Dhurandhar made him a phenomenon. Dhurandhar The Revenge has made him, by the coldest metric available, the most commercially successful director in Bollywood history.
