The actress' latest release, Cocktail 2, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, has opened to a healthy Rs. 13.10 crore on its first day, emerging as the sixth-highest opening day grosser of Kriti Sanon’s career.
The strong start places Cocktail 2 among the actress' biggest openers, trailing only a handful of major commercial successes. Kriti's highest opener remains Adipurush, which stormed into cinemas with Rs. 36 crore on Day 1. The film has also surpassed Crew, which had opened at Rs. 10.28 crore, by Rs. 2.82 crore. Against Luka Chuppi, which collected Rs. 8.01 crore on its first day, Cocktail 2 has posted an improvement of Rs. 5.09 crore. Similarly, it has raced ahead of Bhediya (Rs. 7.48 crore) by Rs. 5.62 crore.
What makes the achievement noteworthy is that Cocktail 2 arrives at a time when romantic entertainers face stiff competition from action spectacles and franchise-driven blockbusters. Yet, the film has managed to generate enough excitement through its music, marketing campaign and star cast to deliver a double-digit opening.
