The Aamir Khan starrer Secret Superstar that has been having a brilliant run at the box office in China seems to finally be slowing down. After opening with a bang and posting collections higher than Aamir Khan’s previous releases Dangal in its first week, the business of the Advait Chandan directorial has now dropped drastically. In fact, on day 31 at the China box office Secret Superstar has managed to draw in just USD 0.04 million [Rs. 0.25 cr].
This drop in collections of Secret Superstar comes after a plethora of films viz. Detective Chinatown Vol 2, Monster Hunt 2, Operation Red Sea, The Monkey King 3, Boonie Bears: The Big Shrink, and The Faces of My Gene hit screens in China. With these six new releases taking over the top spots, Secret Superstar that has till now managed to endure the competition finds itself relegated to the seventh spot on the list. Despite, this drop in collections, the film that also features Zaira Wasim has still performed better than other releases that hit screens after it like the Hollywood release Maze Runner: Death Cure and the local release Till the End of the World that do not find a position in the top 10 daily grossers list.
As of now, after its 31 day run at the China box office the total earning of Secret Superstar within this market are pegged at a staggering USD 117.66 million [Rs. 759.49 cr]. But with the film still managing to find takers and continuing to run in select locations, all that remains to be seen is whether the overall collections of the film manage to cross the Rs. 760 cr mark.
