Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui took a fair start at the box office as Rs. 3.75 crores came in. The film was carrying appeal primarily for the key urban multiplexes, especially up North, and this is where the footfalls primarily came.
Since the film has a taboo subject all over again, just like it is for majority of Ayushmann Khurrana films, one didn’t expect the footfalls to be massive. Still, around Rs. 4-5 crores were expected and this is what was predicted in this column as well. However, Delhi NCR, which was meant to be relatively huger, stayed just decent as well which meant the numbers were a little lesser.
That said, at least there is a start and what works best for this film with Vaani Kapoor delivering a good performance in a crucial role is the fact that appreciation is there. As a result, one can expect the numbers to get bigger today and tomorrow. At the least, the Abhishek Kapoor directed film would need to do over Rs. 5 crores today and as long as that happens, the game is on.
