Brahmastra is pretty much coming on its own as the collections stay on to be super steady in the third week as well. Agreed that National Cinema Day has helped boost the collections but then one needs to look at it in a couple of other ways as well. First and foremost, if a bad movie would have been playing in theatres, no amount of ticket reduction would have helped. Secondly, and very importantly, the enhanced crowd that has watched the film now would spread positive word of mouth to a larger set of audiences, which means even when the ticket prices are pushed again from today onwards, the footfalls would be better than what would have been had this Friday and Saturday been regular.
The film collected a massive Rs. 9 crores* on its third Friday which is bigger than the first Friday of so many other big budget films that have released in 2022. In terms of the footfalls, it is comparable to the very first day of Brahmastra as well as the dubbed Hindi versions of KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR, which is truly remarkable. In fact where the film could have collected more was had there been capacity available since re-released Avatar took away many premium IMAX and 3D screens. Had that not happened then Brahmastra would have comfortably crossed even the Rs. 10 crores mark.
The Karan Johar and Star Studios production has collected Rs. 236 crores* already and the Rs. 250 crores milestone would be accomplished sooner than expected. Post that it would be the journey towards the Rs. 275 crores that would be closely monitored. It is possible for sure but would be touch and go.
