While Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is the first choice of the audiences across the country with collections continuing to see momentum right through the weekend, Hollywood too is having a field day in India. Ever since the release of Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part One there have been many big days for Hollywood films in India. Now with Oppenheimer and Barbie joining the party as well, things are continuing to be shining bright.
This can well be seen from the fact that between the three films, around Rs. 13 crores came in on Sunday. The biggest contribution came from Oppenheimer which netted Rs. 7.50 crores* more. This is a good number indeed for the Christopher Nolan biggie, which has gone beyond just its opening weekend and then the weekdays ahead but stepped in well into the second week too. Currently standing at Rs. 90 crores*, the film will enter Rs. 100 Crore Club by Friday or Saturday.
On the other hand, Barbie too had a good Sunday with Rs. 3 crores* been added to its total. The film has held on well right till the close of the second weekend and is now in a real chance to have a lifetime of Rs. 45 crores as well. It’s going to be a stretch for sure and could turn out to be a touch and go. Still, with Rs. 34 crores* in its kitty already and with 11 open days where there would be no Hollywood or Bollywood release, it could well be possible.
Meanwhile, Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part One enjoyed yet another Rs. 2 crore day for itself. After entering the Rs. 100 Crore Club in two weeks, the film has managed to chip in with a bit more over the weekend gone by, something that has pushed its total to Rs. 109.50 crores*. Last action biggie Fast X had netted Rs. 108.83 crores in India and the Tom Cruise starrer has now surpassed the Vin Diesel led franchise offering.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
