The Ayushmann Khurrana – Parineeti Chopra starrer Meri Pyaari Bindu directed by Akshay Roy released a couple of weeks ago on May 12. The film which made headlines prior to its release was copiously under promoted in its run up to release.
In this box office report we take a look at overall profitability of Meri Pyaari Bindu to its makers Yash Raj Films. Made on a total budget of Rs. 22 crores (CoP Rs. 15 cr + P&A Rs. 7 cr) Meri Pyaari Bindu that received mixed reaction from both the audience and critics alike managed to rake in just Rs. 10 cr at the close of its third weekend in theatres. Coupled with this, the makers of the film earned Rs. 1.50 cr from the music rights of the film and Rs. 18.50 cr from the sale of its digital and satellite rights.
Meri Pyaari Bindu that released across 750 screens in Indian and 325 screens in the overseas market has just about managed to cover its investment while making precious little profit of approximately Rs. 3.63 cr with a 16.48% rate of return on investment for its makers.
However, the biggest solace for Yash Raj Films, the makers of Meri Pyaari Bindu is the fact that 80% of its investment was recovered from the sale of satellite and digital rights that were pre-sold to Sony and Amazon Prime respectively.
