The collections of Akshay Kumar–Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet – Ek Prem Katha have brought cheer at the box office. It had decent collections on Friday, amounting to Rs. 13.10 cr but then grew significantly in the days to come. Even Monday was quite strong due to Janmashtami holiday up North. The film then once again increased on Tuesday on account of Independence Day. The collections obviously saw a dip on Wednesday and Thursday, but picked up again on the second weekend. Since the word of mouth is super-strong, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is set for a long run at the box office.
Looking at the collections and its trend [Rs. 115.05 at the close of the second weekend], it seems that the film is all set to become the second highest grosser of 2017, clocking nearly Rs. 140 cr and surpass the collections of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees, which till now was the number two Bollywood grosser of the year by collecting Rs. 137.51 cr.
With not much of a competition in Week 2, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha will definitely hold well and surpass the figures of Raees. Not just Raees, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha will also cross the collections of Rowdy Rathore (Rs. 133.25) as well and will emerge as Akshay Kumar’s highest grosser too.
