The Salman Khan – Anushka Sharma starrer Sultan that released yesterday opened to packed houses despite being a pre Eid release. The film produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar has managed to wow not just the audiences but the critics alike.
In this box office report, we take a look at the Opening Day collections of Sultan while comparing them to Salman Khan’s previous releases. Surprisingly, despite the hype surrounding Sultan, the film ranks as Salman second highest opening day grosser collecting Rs. 36.54 cr, preceded by the actor’s previous release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo that collected Rs. 40.35 cr. However, the film does manage to surpass Salman’s other releases like Ek Tha Tiger that collected Rs. 32.93 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 27.25 cr and Kick that collected Rs. 26.40 cr.
But since Sultan enjoys an extended five day festive weekend, now the question is, how fast will the collections of Sultan surpass the opening weekend collections of Salman’s previous releases.
