The Tom Holland starrer Spider-Man: Homecoming released last week within the Indian market. Released across 1400 screens in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu the film has been doing brisk business. In fact after collecting Rs. 9.36 cr Nett (Rs. 2.16 cr from paid previews on Thursday + Rs. 7.2 cr on Friday opening day) the film has managed to close its opening weekend business with total collections of Rs. 28.66 cr.
Interestingly, with a collections figure like this, Spider-Man: Homecoming has now become one of the biggest opening weekend ever for the studio in India that released the film, namely Sony Pictures Entertainment. If that wasn’t all Spider-Man: Homecoming that managed to draw in a further Rs. 9.6 cr (Nett) and Rs. 9.7 cr (Nett) on Saturday and Sunday respectively also stands as the second highest Hollywood opening weekend grosser in the Indian market.
Propelled by critical acclaim and strong word of mouth the film that faces little to no competition during weekdays is expected to close business on a much higher note.
