Box Office: RRR [Hindi] has an excellent weekend, Attack – Part 1 sees some rise, The Kashmir Files brings on pace

By Joginder Tuteja

While RRR [Hindi] is soon to be a superhit once it crosses the Rs. 200 crores mark, by the look of things it could well emerge as a blockbuster. The film was looking like a Rs. 100-125 crores success at best in the week leading to its release but the scenario has changed post the first weekend, what with the daily collections staying on to be in double digits right through. The best has in fact come in the second weekend when the fall compared to the first weekend has been nominal. As a result, more than Rs. 50 crores have come in the last three days, which is superb.

The film now stands at Rs. 184.59 crores and while it will enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club pretty soon, all eyes are on the next big milestone i.e. Rs. 250 crores. Once that happens, the film will qualify for being a blockbuster and anything more than that will only take it to further height. SS Rajamouli has scored again, and how!

As for John Abraham, he gave his heart and soul to Attack - Part 1, but unfortunately the collections are not in synch with the effort that has been put in and the final outcome, which is good. The film needed a see rise in collections on Saturday and Sunday but that was not enough as this is a well mounted film which deserves far bigger theatrical revenue. With just Rs. 11.51 crores coming in, the situation is heart breaking for all associated with the film since at the very least one expected a Rs. 50 crores lifetime for this action packed affair by Lakshya Raj Anand.

The Kashmir Files did bring back pace again over the weekend, as a result of which the collections now stand at Rs. 245.23 crores. It has left behind films like Krrish 3 [Rs. 244.92 crores] and Simmba [Rs. 240.31 crores] in the last three days and is now just below Kabir Singh in terms of the all-time highest lifetime numbers (ever since the invention of the Rs. 100 Crore Club). All time blockbuster.
