After Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Luv Ranjan would be scoring yet another century at the box office. The filmmaker has been having an all-successful track record so far (barring Akash Vani, which was a good film too) and now with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, he would be having his highest grosser so far. Of course, the cost of making the film and the starcast is much bigger as well and hence expectations were that at least it would do Rs 150 crores just in India. However, the post pandemic scenario is entirely different and if there are profits that come in behind the recovery then that by itself is a success no less.
This can well be seen from the fact that Rs 92.44 crores have been collected so far in the extended nine day week so far. Ideally, Rs 100 crores mark should have been crossed already, if not in the first seven days itself. After all, the film had opened at Rs 15.73 crores and then also benefitted from the five-day weekend. However, the collections had dipped on Thursday and Friday and hence post that it was the revival game that began.
Thankfully, the Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer did well during the weekdays and stayed quite stable and went under the Rs 5 crores mark only on Thursday. As a result, over Rs 22 crores came in between Monday to Thursday. What it needs is good stability today as well and at the bare minimum Rs 4 crores need to be collected. As long as that happens, the romcom cum family drama is on track to enjoy a lifetime of over Rs 130 crores with an entry in the Rs 100 Crore Club tomorrow itself.
