Tomorrow is a big day. While the industry is waiting with bated breath to get a big money spinner rolling all over again after Jawan, all associated with the film would be closely eyeing how the decision to release it on Diwali day and that too on Sunday pays dividends. As for Salman Khan, a lot is at stake because even though he has been scoring Rs. 100 Crore Club runners rather consistently for 16 releases in a row now, his last Rs. 200 Crore Club success was four years ago [Bharat - 2019] while his Rs. 300 Crore Club blockbuster was even before [Tiger Zinda Hai - 2017].
The superstar is definitely aiming for a big one here and even though the start won't be a record one for Bollywood, it could well turn out to be the one when it comes to his own releases. Here is the list of Top-5 biggest openers of Salman Khan:
Bharat – Rs. 42.30 crores
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – Rs. 40.35 crores
Sultan – Rs. 36.54 crores
Tiger Zinda Hai – Rs. 34.10 crores
Ek Tha Tiger – Rs. 32.93 crores
While Bharat is the biggest of the lot, Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is the next in line. As for the Tiger films, while Ek Tha Tiger set the record on Eid, Tiger Zinda Hai made Christmas Merry. Now Tiger 3 is arriving on Diwali, and it has to be seen how the film performs on this festival. If it turns out to be a blockbuster then Salman Khan would emerge as the only superstar to have three of his franchise instalments arrive on the biggest festivals [Eid, Diwali, Christmas] and emerge as such huge successes.
As of now, from the opening perspective, anything in the range of 37-42 crores looks possible which means Salman Khan will have Tiger 3 sitting amongst his Top-3 biggest openers at the least.
