Today being a partial holiday in many states due to the New Year being celebrated, collections generally saw around 20% push yesterday, which helped both Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway as well as Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Same would be the case today as well, and the jump can be expected to be on the same lines, which would make it a constant upward trend for both the films during the weekdays.
Let’s talk about Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway first. The film needed it better than the others since Monday numbers had gone a little below Rs 1 crore and for it to end up gathering some respectable numbers, a first week of at least Rs 10 crores was pretty much required. Well, it will reach there comfortably now since Rs 1.09 crore came in yesterday as a result of which the overall collections stand at Rs 8.43 crores. The film should bring in around Rs 1.25 crore more today which means Rs 10.50 crores would be comfortably scored before the second weekend begins.
As for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, it’s about as much the film can collect in days leading to the release of Bholaa on March 30. The first major milestone for the film was Rs 125 crores lifetime, which was assured after the second weekend. While Rs 150 crores was not going to happen after an uneven extended nine-day first week, it was about where does it land up between Rs 125-150 crores. After Rs 2.75 crores* been gathered on Tuesday (a jump over Rs 2.25 crores* on Monday), the film has now reached Rs 114.34 crores*. It would be aiming for one final push in the third weekend in order to go past the Rs 130 crores mark lifetime at least, which it will manage comfortably now.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
