Golmaal Again has surpassed expectations big time at the Box Office. It was predicted that the film would open in Rs. 18-20 crore range. However the numbers have emerged as astronomically huger, what with collections to the tune of Rs. 30.14 crore. Considering the fact that the screens were split between Golmaal Again [3500] and Secret Superstar [1750], it had turned out to be a challenging situation indeed for the Rohit Shetty directed film to rake in very good numbers. That said, the impact has been minimal as the film saw very good occupancy in the bargain with houseful tag against quite a few shows across the country.
The film has embarked on a very positive start and since this is the kind of an entertainer that is a lot more fun when seen in a packed house, the fun quotient has only gone higher up. Word of mouth for the film is largely positive too and though as a franchise Golmaal is not dependent on critical acclaim, the fact that by and large there are good reviews coming the film's way has spelt better news as well.
Despite the film being fourth in the Golmaal franchise, this one has a mix of dramatic elements also along with the humor quotient which has surprised a few. However, family audiences come out in full force during this post-Diwali release period and that should actually add on to the footfalls, especially at the multiplexes. As a result, a very hefty weekend is round the corner. In 2017, the biggest weekend for a Bollywood flick was enjoyed by Tubelight [Rs. 64.77 crore] and that number could well be quite comfortably surpassed by Golmaal Again in two days flat.
Stay tuned as we bring more updates tomorrow.
