Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha (EHTEDT) saw a controlled release this Friday as theatres played an average of 3 shows across major centres of the country. The film released a week after Tubelight and even though the Salman Khan starrer isn’t doing great guns either, there are many screens which are pre-booked, that doesn’t allow much space to the newer releases. Nonetheless, this was always a known fact for the makers of EHTEDT. Moreover, this is still a decent case scenario for the film, because Tubelight had seen the kind of reception that Salman Khan starrers usually do, the shows may have been even lesser.
Nonetheless, from the opening perspective, it did show for the Suneel Darshan film as the numbers were low. Less than Rs. 50 lakhs came for the film and now all eyes are on whether the film picks up over the weekend. The film’s music (by Nadeem) has been appreciated and that did help in generating awareness. Moreover, the massy content of the film meant that in the interiors the response was better for the love triangle.
The film has one week for itself to earn word of mouth as there is a flurry of releases in weeks to come. Mom (7th July), Jagga Jasoos (14th July), Munna Michael and Daddy (21st July), Mubarakan and Indu Sarkar (28th July) release one after another, which means if at all EHTEDT has to stay on contention, it would have to begin generating higher collections soon enough.
