This could well be a first for Salman Khan in a really long time that shows of his film were reduced by almost half in the second week. This is what happened in case of Tubelight where drops were so drastic on Wednesday and Thursday that exhibitors just didn't have confidence left to play it on a large number of screens. Even though there was only one film Hindi film [Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha] and that too was playing on just two or three shows, a good count of shows at multiplexes went to Transformers: The Last Knight.
As for Tubelight, it dropped further on the second Friday as only Rs. 3 crore* more came in. This has brought the film's collections to Rs. 109.86 crore* and this is now comparable to what Raees [Rs. 109.01 crore] had collected in its first seven days and that too in a clash with Kaabil. That pretty much tells the tale around how the Salman Khan starrer has been rejected big time and would end up at a much lesser score.
While it is now a given that the Raees lifetime of Rs. 137.51 crore is out of question, fortunately it would still be at least the second highest grosser of 2017 since the next best is Jolly LLB 2 [Rs. 117 crore] which should be surpassed by the end of second weekend in good likelihood.
That said, the film has failed big time and emerged as a huge disappointment for all associated with it.
