2015 has ended and the award season has kick stared, with celebrities being nominated and honoured for their contribution to cinema and their overall performances in the year that was. But away from the glitz and glamour, we at Bollywood Hungama decided to take a look at some of the Top Male celebrities of 2015 with reference to their box office success.
In this Box Office report, we compare the box office collections of some of the top stars in terms of cumulative box office collections and average per movie collections. Not surprisingly, it is Salman Khan who featured in two releases last year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo who tops the charts aggregating Rs. 530.50 crores with an average of Rs. 265.25 crores.
Akshay Kumar comes in second aggregating Rs. 355.53 cr with four releases, however when compared on the scale of average per movie collections, Akshay ranks 8th collecting Rs. 88.88 cr per film on an average. Varun Dhawan follows Akshay in the cumulative collections list aggregating Rs. 305.81 cr with three releases. Surprisingly, Ranveer Singh, who ended 2015 with a bang ranks 4th on the list of cumulative collections with Rs. 256.88 cr from two releases.
Coming to the average per movie collections, Salman Khan tops the list followed by R. Madhavan whose only release Tanu Weds Manu Returns clocked Rs.152.39 cr at the box office, with Shah Rukh Khan taking the third slot with Dilwale.

To calculate the cumulative box office performance of the mentioned celebrities, only films in which the said celebrity has featured in the lead role have been accounted for. Example: Nawazuddin Siddiqui featured in three release viz. Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Manjhi - The Mountain Man; however he featured as the main lead in only Manjhi, while playing a supporting role in the other two. Hence Manjhi is the only film accounted for Nawazuddin.
