It isn't just the 2018 releases that Baaghi 2 is competing with. Even if one goes back in time by more than a year, the film has challenged the biggies from 2017. The film has already scored Rs. 112.85 crore and is still counting. Meanwhile, let's take a look at some of the best first week numbers of Bollywood films that have released since January 2017.
As is also the case, each of these biggies (except for Jolly LLB 2) was aided by a big national holiday during the course of the week whereas Baaghi 2 only had a partial holiday to contend with:
Tiger Zinda Hai - Rs. 206.04 crore [Eid]
Padmaavat - Rs. 150.50 crore [Republic Day]
Golmaal Again - Rs. 136.08 crore [Diwali]
Baaghi 2 - Rs. 112.85 crore [Good Friday - partial holiday]
Raees - Rs. 109.01 crore [Republic Day]
Tubelight - Rs. 106.86 crore [Eid]
Judwaa 2 - Rs. 98.08 crore [Gandhi Jayanti]
Toilet - Ek Prem Katha - Rs. 96.05 crore [Independence Day]
Kaabil - Rs. 79.60 crore [Republic Day]
Jolly LLB 2 - Rs. 77.71 crore [no holiday]
It is quite apparent that Baaghi 2 has been leaps and bounds above a lot of competition and has managed such phenomenal collections entirely on its own accord. A lot of credit also needs to go to Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star for pitching the film as an event release despite no real event around it. Moreover, for director Ahmed Khan this has been a huge comeback to the big screen as a leading director.
In its lifetime run too, the Tiger Shroff starrer should retain its fourth spot in this list as it would comfortably surpass the highest grosser in the films below it, Judwaa 2 [Rs. 138.61 crore], quite comfortably.
