Mubarakan is holding well at the Box Office. On Monday, the film brought in Rs. 3.55 crore more and that's a good number considering the fact that Friday stood at Rs. 5.16 crore. Considering the fact that ticket rates are a little lower on weekdays, a number like this indicates that the footfalls were pretty much in comparison to that of the opening day.
Signs of good stability over the weekend were all there when the film more than doubled the Friday numbers on Sunday. Though offbeat films tend to demonstrate such kind of jumps, it is unheard of a commercial film to see such kind of growth during the weekend. Hence, there were positive indications that Monday wouldn't take a major fall either.
Of course a lot still needs to happen for the Anees Bazmee film. For starters, numbers very similar to that of Monday need to be maintained right till Thursday so that the film comes as close to the Rs. 40 crore mark as possible once the first week is through. Currently, the collections stand at Rs. 26.46 crore and for a film of this scale, grandeur and star cast the expectations are much higher.
Since Mubarakan is a family film, audiences are primarily expected to step in during the evening and night shows. However working days pretty much delimits the extent which means the Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D'Cruz and Athiya Shetty starrer is fighting it out purely on the basis of merits to stay well in contention and bring in moolah.
It is going to be an interesting week indeed for Mubarakan.
